tussah bilkul sahi farmaya hay.

Multani tay Punjabi Doo anj Zubaana(n) hinn.

Historically speaking, Punjabi boli tay Sindhi, Duhay(n) Multani vichchu(n) jaNay hinn.

Dear Vikram,
Seraiki is not just a Multani boli,it has been established as an independent language. Multan is indeed centre of Seraiki Wasaib. Please do not use this term In future.
thanks

Sir,

i understand that academic circles in present day pakistan might differentiate between Multani and Siraik. but if you were to come to India, and meet the people who migrated from Siraiki regions to india during partition, and ask them what language they speak, they will ALL say they speak MULTANI.

That is what we know the language as. the word SIRAIKI is alien to us. I am sure many people in India do not even know what siraiki is.

All people who came from Jampur, DG Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur during partition, they and their descendents call their language MULTANI in India and not Siraiki.

Could you explain what the reservation is in Pakistan or in academic circles there about using the name MULTANI instead of SIRAIKI?

I would be interested in knowing the difference. As far as i thought, they were just different names used to describe the same language, am i wrong?

Regards

Vikram

Vikram Sain,

Tussan apreen jaa te bilkul baja hiwe. Multani and Seraiki are the same languages. But the word Multani may cause many people reflect this language to be spoken in Multan region. But in fact Seraiki is spoken in four provinces of Pakistan and in may cities of India as you mentioned. And due to different dialects of Seraiki, Multani may be considered as multani dialect of Seraiki.

Anyway you can educate people speaking Multani in India that their language has another popular name "Seraiki". Some Seraiki journals should be circulated to such people to make them aware about thier language and roots.

Anyway, tussan abaad te shaad rahoo

wala milsoon- G. Raza
