By By Rauf Klasra
ISLAMABAD: A PPP MNA Hamid Saeed Kazmi has been forced at gunpoint to vacate a family suite by MNA of PML-N Sardar Mohammad Faiz Tumman from Chakwal, who brought 10 private armed men in two vans in the premises of the Parliament Lodges to get the possession of the apartment.
The shocking event has created panic in the Parliament Lodges, particularly in the ranks of MNAs from the Seraiki region who told The News that this misbehaviour with their respectable colleague might divide the parliamentarians into the Seraiki and Central Punjab regions.
These 10 gun-carrying private men remained in the premises with their weapons to get the suite vacated from the MNA without any challenge from the law-enforcement agencies posted there.
The unprecedented drama at the Parliament Lodges has caused a big uproar among the Seraiki MNAs, who have protested against the attitude of PML-N MNA with their fellow coalition colleague.
Meanwhile, PPP MNAs Abdul Qayyum Jatoi, Jamshed Dasti and Moaz Jatoi told this correspondent that they were going to raise this issue with the PPP leadership as this move might harm their relationship with the MNA from the Central Punjab, who dealt in an arrogant manner just because he thought he was above the law.
Hamid Saeed, widely respected in the religious circles of the Seraiki region elected on PPP ticket from Rahim Yar Khan district, confirmed the incident and told The News that he just acted wisely and did not seek any reinforcement from the religious Madrassah of Islamabad or Rawalpindi just to avoid bloodshed in the premises of the Parliament Lodges.
"When I was thrown out of the family suite allotted in my name by the National Assembly Secretariat, I saw about 10 armed men waiting for me outside in case I refused to vacate the family suite at gunpoint. For one moment, I thought to call my followers, too, but then I immediately thought about the innocent people and avoided retaliation in the premises of the Parliament Lodges."
According to available information, MNA Kazmi was allotted a flat by the National Assembly Secretariat. But, when he went to get the possession of the flat, he was told that MNA Faiz Tumman was holding the possession of two family suites without any authorisation. He was asked to vacate one of the flats but he refused.
However, the NA Secretariat asked Kazmi to go and take possession as now he was the valid owner. Acting upon the advice of NA staff, he entered the flat. But, within hours, he found himself facing a furious Tumman along with his armed lot. They all started abusing and pushed him outside the flat. Another MNA Hayat from Lodhran who was present there also tried to pacify Tumman but he too was manhandled and abused.
To save his own honour, Kazmi desperately tried to say sorry to the gun-toting people, but Tumman would not listen to him and kept on pushing and abusing him.
Kazmi said: "I had never thought in my whole life that I would be abused, misbehaved and pushed out of my flat in such a shocking manner. I, too, could give a matching reply but I kept my cool to avoid bloodshed in the premises of the Lodges." This correspondent tried to get the version of Faiz Tumman but he did not take the calls.
