Seminar on Khawja Ghulam Farid

On the day of 106th Anniversary of Khawja Ghulam Farid, a seminar arranged by Khwaja Farid Academy was held on 24th of July, in the Conference Hall of the Pakistan Academy of Letters. Saien Khawja Muin Koraja presided the seminar while the main speakers included Fayyaz Baqir, Mazhar Arif, Rashid Ghuari and Ahsan Wagha.
The seminar was conducted by Ghaznfar Mehdi. Wafa Chishti sang the cofis of Khawja Ghulam Farid. Almost all famous Seraiki writers and intellectuals available in Islamabad were present in the ‘House-full’ hall. The meeting in the end unanimously passed three resolutions proposed by members of various Seraiki organizations—Parchol, Siraiki Sangat and Sawail, and presented by Saien Ghazanfar Mahdi. The Resolution read as following:
1. This auspicious gathering on the occasion of anniversary of Hazrat Khwaja Farid, demands the Governor, the Chancellor of the Bahauddin Zakariya University, the Vice Chancellor, the Ministers of Education—Federal and Provincial—to cancel the Contract of a retired professor as In Charge (care taker, or whatever) of the Department of Seraiki and appoint an Expert of the subject Seraiki as Chairman/In charge of the departments per tradition with the language Departments in all other universities of the country.
2. We demand that ‘education in mother tongue’ which is strongly recommended by the UN and by education experts world over be started beside as right of children also as effective means to end alienation among our children leading to growth of violence-prone minds.
3. We demand that a Department of Seraiki for full post graduate studies in the subject be started in Gomal University of Dera Ismail Khan according to the basic policy of the government to accommodation of two regional languages i.e. Pashto and Seraiki.
