For quite a long time Daily Times has been reporting about presence of so called extremists in Seraiki Belt . Some time back there was article in the same paper which indicated that the majority population of this Seraiki district supports terrorism > Now once again this newspaper is reporting that all the sucide bombers are coming from Seraiki Wasaib. Where as there is no such report from any other leading news paper. This makes one to think about the reliability of the report.

All Seraikis must protest against the attitude of Daily Times towards Serakis who are the most peaceful and peace lovinf people living in Pakistan . I am posting the news item which appeared on 27th January , 2008.

Riaz Basra’s nephew arrested

LAHORE: Law enforcement officials on Saturday arrested Riaz Basra’s nephew, Fahad Munir Basra.

The Intelligence sources said Fahad had confessed to them that he was one of the main links between extremists in the Punjab and Waziristan. The officials believed Fahad had been the key person in the chain of militants who were smuggling suicide-bombing jackets into the Punjab from Waziristan and Afghanistan.

During initial interrogation, the officials said, they had come to know that Fahad had distributed jackets among suicide bombers for explosions across the Punjab.

The officials said the jackets were being prepared in Waziristan and Afghanistan and a few foreign terrorist groups were providing them with logistic support. They said most suicide bombers were from the Seraiki belt of the Punjab. They said, “Evidence shows that the suicide bomber who blew himself up at GPO Chowk was also from the Seraiki belt.”

After the blast at GPO Chowk, they said, they had arrested about 40 suspected militants who had links with defunct organisations and were involved in the ongoing wave of terrorism across the country. They said the militants had been arrested from Quetta, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Jhang and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Furthermore, they claimed to have seized a huge cache of explosives including electric detonators, weapons and suicide jackets
