Friends,

as a matter of strategy, I suggest we should move from telling and educating each-other one step further to telling those who are supposed to make difference i.e. the politician. With this view few lines have been drafted and pasted below about the possible Siraiki position towards the incumbent proclaimant of Siraiki vote i.e. PPP (I beg your pardon for possible cross posting). This is a first move, I am sure others will come with better view, may altogether different.

SERAIKIS& PPP

n The president, in his recent interview to PTV, highlighted “political complexity” as one of the problems have caused the situation in Pakistan. He repeated this expression to allow one infer anything. It sounded as if his mind was clear on the core problem but he refrained from admitting in clear words the tabooed reality of ‘National complexity i.e. national multiplicity’ which actually formed this nation,

n With PPP remaining the major, if not the only, political party representing this area, one is obliged to have interest in understanding of its political preferences,

n Independent of its time serving recognition by the centres of power, the PPP seems having got its role appreciated by the majority of the people today more than it had in the past,

n But those with habit of serious thinking among Siraikis, can not separate their hopes from their fears with regard to PPP,

n Everything in recent moves of the Party seems perfectly in line with the ‘political pragmatism’ and with unavoidable international pressures too,

n Missing is the component of “REFORMISM” a big party should have, at least a tiny bit of it could be part of its articulated agenda. A Reformist approach towards languages and education, for instance; that, the Party will not leave the issue of linguistic multiplicity unresolved, and that it will work to create national consensus on it, or will form a National Language Commission,

n Except for Pakistan, scarce are the examples to show any country obliged with lingo-cultural multiplicity has imposed monocultural ethos on the people. Even Malaysia has addressed the problem of ‘language and education’ by forming a commission and implementing its recommendations.

n There can not be two opinions in that, Language domination, no matter how sacred is it made, is the perfect tool of social and political domination. In contrast, linguistic liberation is a way to human liberation and equality among groups,

n Educationists unanimously agree that education in learner’s first language guarantees excellent results, brings more acquisition with less effort. A study on Pakistan’s case done by S. Mustafa Shah is on the record,

n The United Nation’s Charter strongly recommends early education in MOTHER TONGUE and the recommendation is focus of the civilized world today. This is seen as important part of ‘Child-and-Mothers’ Rights’,

n Celebration of 21st of February as the World Mother Tongue Day by many in Pakistan continues since, and without reaction from any quarter,

n Formation of the Siraiki province is a valid demand but the “political complexities” (clued by the president) are bound to make it tricky—will mean more for the establishment and the elite but little for the people if materialized before proper preparedness among the Siraikis and their cadre,

n Providing a little space for Siraiki education, especially ‘Early Education in Mother Tongue’ coupled with the Siraiki control on Siraiki media will make things easy both for Siraikis and for our beloved country i.e. Pakistan,

n As far the bunch of Nationalist leaders, they seem more articulate on Provincialism i.e. the so called rights of the 4 provinces. It is the Siraikis, and to some extent, peoples of Northern areas who see their problems linked with lack of proper understanding and recognition-at-length of ‘cultural heterogeneity and national multiplicity’ on scientific grounds,
