Roman Script Version of Ajj Di Gaal 2008/02/13 03:37 Karma: 0
May I request the Roman script version of the feature 'Ajj Di Gaal' and other intersting and informative postings like the recent one 'Abad Kari ...' by Farooq. This would benefit Urdu / Arabic script illiterates like me.

Dear Mukesh ,

Thanks for your post. We definitely would like to post material in roman script so that people who can not read arabic script doesnot miss anything posted on wasaib. It is necessary to bridge gap between Seraikis across the boders.

Regards

Farooq

I want Seraiki Devanagari alphabets to be inserted in my fonts. May be those special five ( Ḅ J̣ Ḍ G̣ Ṛ ) will be from Sindhi written in Devanagari. I need authentic information in this regard.

Dear Rizwan,
I am not able to understand what exactly you mean by Seraiki Devnagri alphabet. Would you please elaborate?
Perhaps, I can arrange some information for you.

Dear Mukesh,
we write Saraiki in Arabic script, some time, when necessary, in roman script. Sindhi in Pakistan is wrote mostly in Arabic script, and in India in Devanagari. i came to know that seraiki in India is wrote in Devanagari as well, although its not very common. because it has special sounds that are not present in Urdu or Punjabi for example, it need more alphabets than these languages. similarity of sounds with Sindhi, and composing of Sindhi in Devanagari indicate that these alphabets are present in Devanagariat least in "Sindhi style". i do not know if Seraiki and Sindhi is wrote in same style in Devanagari, but you can confirm it. it needs care and you understand that. looking at published seraiki work in india may help
thanks,
Rizwan

Dear Rizwan,

Your efforts regarding soft publishing of seraiki are highly appreciable. And when it would be possible to publish seraiki writings on web in text form with all its alphabets? I think some of seraiki alphabets still can not be read on the web when the writing is in text form.

Best Regards- G. Raza
