Whats going On. 2007/03/31 17:33 Karma: 9
The recent events in Taank and Burqa Action in Islamabad has exposed that how weak is the state authority and how big non-state actors have grown in the country. The situation right now is quite complex, more you think about it more you get confused. One can agree that Taank is a far flung area and government was not prepared for unexpected and surprise attack by bands of extremists. But what happened in Islamabad is quite upsetting and perturbibg.

Lal Masjid in Islamabad from where this all started is hardly at a distance of 1 kilometer from ISI headquarters , where as parliament house is hardly at distance of two kilometers. What ever is happening is certainly not what it seems. There must be some thing which is beyond understanding of common man .

1) These events could be used as a pretext to postpone election by Musharaf. He will just have to address nation and tell it that situation at the moment is not conducive for general election so these are being postponed in wider national interest. Only one address on TV will be siufficient for this purpose .

2) There could be american involvement as well. If situation gets out of control and there is rise in such cases of control of cities by extremists and clergy , it could be used as a pretext by America to destroy Pakistan's nuclear facilities in order to keep them away from these bigots.

3) Similarly this could be a message for Musharraf from some one inside government , we should not forget assertion of Musharaf that government with in government would not be allowed, Which clearly indicates that certain element in current government are operating with out government control over them.

4) It is quite possible that ( although there is very little likelihood of it) what ever is happening is a logical outcome of for what our nation has been yearning for last 60 years. We are a nation which is over obsessed with religion .. What is happening is not unwarranted.....it is result of sixty years of religious bigotry . Excess of every thing is bad and religion is not an exception. We have tried to Islamize each and every aspect of oulives , without even thinking that what cost we will have to pay for it. We have Islamised constitution, islamised laws, islamised banking, islamised curriculum, islamised history . Then we have clergy and whole lot of political mullas who are contnieously preaching intolerance and bigotry . We have overdose of religious programmes and channels on television. There are countless madrassas in every city and town which are instilling hardline religious philosophies in minds of students. There is whole lot of disgrantled and frustrated youth in the country which could wreck havoc in collabration with religious extremists.May God be kind with 180 million people of Pakistan.
