How to start new topic 2007/07/24 18:01 Karma: 0
There is no "New Post" button any more, instead one can try "New Thread" option to post new topic. Go to forum , go to desired section, like 'community announcement' , there u will see "New Thread" in parrot green colour.

But that is not user-friendly way and I hope that it should be changed and effort should be made to make the site interface bilingual(english and seraiki). Many sites have bilingual interface e.g., crulp site (www.crulp.org), jang site (www.jang.com.pk), to name a few.

Hi Reza,

There has been a few changes in the design of the forum in last few days as we upgraded the forum software.

The issue with bilingual site involves developing a common Seraiki web font which will take a while. Most of the browsers now come pre-loaded with Urdu fonts so it's much easier for Urdu sites but Seraiki font is not readable unless a plugin is downloaded by individual users and many of our users can't get it right.

Thanks for the advice,
Kamran

Dear Kamran,

Thanks for concern, and I hope it will take a while to spend a while.

One thing more I want to say: why not the concerned developers of Urdu fonts are requested to develop Urdu fonts in such a way that these support also the "five special seraiki alphabets". I think they will oblige our request as in this way those fonts would become more popular. Request can be put with Dr. Sarmad of CRULP, Lahore in this regard.

Best Regards- G. Raza

Yes. That can be done.

Rather I would talk to someone in Microsoft or find a way to design a Firefox add on to support display of Seraiki on common browsers.

I think we should talk on a conference call someday and invite everyone to share ideas or at least myself, Farooq Miana, yourself and my father who also happens to be the site admin, can have a joint phone discussion on this topic.

Which part of the world are you located in?

Regards,
Kamran

you are 100% right and the task of explorer support for seraiki should be hurriedly achieved.

Again when an explorer supports urdu characters, then it must also supports the "five special seraiki characters", that should be the strategy.
My opinion is that the plug-in for arabic script languages should be common so that all the characters of languges written in arabic script are supported. That idea should be communicated to browsers' owners.

This is necessary because any other text e.g., in sindhi can be quoted in between seraiki, say you are referring some verse of Shah Latif in your writing. And some common fonts for all arabic-script languages should also be devised.

Anyway ideas are always there but the implementation only does matter.

I am here in germany for studies.
