MULTAN, May 04 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here Sunday announced to set up two universities and eight colleges in the district. Speaking at the Meet-the-Press program, the Prime Minister said that a women university and an engineering university will be established while five women colleges and two boys colleges will also be set up in Multan.

He said a cadet college will also be set up in Multan so that the youths of this region could be enabled to join the Pakistan Armed Forces. He said the DCO will propose site for this elite institution.

He said the construction work of women university will start from July 2008 while its classes will commence at Bahauddin Zakariya University this year.

He said an engineering university of international standard will be established on the outskirts of the city.


Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani announced to provide 15 buses for the government degree college for women and two buses for Nishtar Medical College for students’ pick and drop.

He said technical institutions will also be set up at Multan so that trained youth of this area could be sent abroad for employment.
